ARE WORKSHOPS RECORDED?
Starting Summer 2021, most Workshops will be recorded.
The discussion portion of workshops will not be recorded.
HOW CAN I ACCESS THE WORKSHOP VIDEO RECORDINGS?
A link to video recordings of workshops, if available, on located on the workshop’s PowerPoint presentation on the “Schedule and Video Recordings” slide or specified webpage.
WHY ARE SOME WORKSHOPS RECORDED, AND OTHERS ARE NOT RECORDED?
When a meeting is recorded, it changes the nature of the conversation since participants know they are being recorded.
While I prefer an ephemeral nature for these workshops, this means that people attend, participate, and learn, and the only record is that which lives in each person’s memory.
However, in reviewing feedback from students, there is a demand for video recordings of workshops. Therefore, starting summer 2021, I will be recording the presentation portion of workshops for later viewing.
The discussion portion of workshops will not be recorded.
ARE WORKSHOPS STRUCTURED AS DEBATES?
No, workshops are not structured as debates. Debates, if structured well, are useful mechanisms to consider two sides of a topic, engage in oral argumentation based on logos, ethos, and pathos, and engage an audience. However, iPoliSci Workshops are structured as discussions, instead of debates, to allow for a query-based approach to engaging and learning about a topic.
Rubric
Rubrics are “a guide listing specific criteria for grading or scoring academic papers, projects, or tests”. Every assessment in the course has a rubric. A table of this assessment’s rubric is provided below for students. However, this table is not accessible for some screen readers.
For students using a screen reader, an accessible version of the rubric table can be accessed by scrolling down further or clicking on the three vertical dots in the upper right corner of the assessment and selecting “Show Rubric”.
